CHARACTER.
NAME: Lena "Tracer" Oxton
CANON: Overwatch
AGE: 26
CANON POINT: Overwatch doesn't have "hard" canon points. Lena will have recently failed to stop the assassination of an ambassador of peace, Mondatta.

HISTORY: Tracer's Wiki & a summary of the Overwatch organization

PERSONALITY:

"cheers, love! the cavalry's here!"

Bright and optimistic, Lena is always ready to fight for good. Whether it's assassins or even the undead, she'll leap into the fray to protect the innocent. She'll lend a hand to those in need and join causes that she feels are just. Once Winston initiated the recall to all former Overwatch agents, she was the very first to reply. She believes wholeheartedly in the good Overwatch did and can still do. Lena is not the sort of person to stay with an organization or aid a cause that she considers unjust. She wants to use her unusual power and talents to make a positive impact on the lives of others, even if she has to go it alone.

Keeping up the image of heroism is important to her as well. When she's forced to take cover in a fight, she does her best to fake confidence for the two children that had been caught in the middle of their fight with Widowmaker and Reaper. Even though she was in a bad spot-- her accelerator was on cooldown so she couldn't teleport nor reload her guns-- she forces a smile and does her best to inspire confidence in the children. Even in a grim situation, Lena tries to keep up her image as a hero, not for her own ego but for the sake of the children.

However, she's horrible at hiding her emotions. She wears her heart on her sleeve and doesn't hide her true feelings about a person. She tells Sombra that Sombra ought to just disappear. She laughs when she's happy, tears up when she's upset, and yells when she's angry. It doesn't matter if it's an ally or a stranger, she can't entirely hide her emotions.

"lúcio! i'll race ya!"

Lena has a cheerful personality and a playful nature. She giggles during fights as she teleports around the battlefield, distracting and irritating her foes. Her pre-match banter includes challenging Lúcio to a race and teasing Winston with bananas. She can also be mischievous, like when she sneaks up on Widowmaker to tease her (and distract her from Winston). Of course, like all heroes, she loves to banter. She teases her enemies ("here to crash another party, love?") and is a little punny ("time's up!" Because she's a time-traveller. Get it? So funny).

it's an honor to meet a member of the shambali

Lena lives in a world where humans and omnics (androids) barely tolerate each other. In some places, like Numbani, they live together in relative harmony. In other places, like Lena's neighborhood of King's Row, tensions are much higher. In spite of growing up in a tense, divisive environment, Lena keeps an open mind about omnics and draws her own conclusions. She's canonically a great admirer of Mondatta-- a Shambali (omnic) monk who preaches equality and peace between the humans and omnics of the world). If that's not enough, one of her best friends is a super-intelligent, genetically modified gorilla scientist from the moon. So meeting talking animals or giant robots or aliens will be weird, but not as much of a shock as it might be otherwise. She's willing to let people prove themselves rather than allow the environment or culture to decide for her.

okay, dad

Lena's fearlessness made her a good test pilot, as well as a good Overwatch agent. She's willing to run headlong into danger and get the job done. The flip side of that is that she doesn't always look before she leaps. During her fight with Widowmaker, she ends up tripping a poison gas trap and nearly gets herself killed as a result. Her fearlessness, then, sometimes teeters into the territory of recklessness.

the world could always use more heroes

At the end of the day, no matter how many times she's knocked down, Lena is an optimist. She believes that the future can be better, that anyone can make a difference. And she'll encourage people to make the world better, to find their own inner heroism.

POWERS:
chronal disassociation
While piloting the experimental teleporting airplane (codename: slipstream), a malfunction caused both the pilot and the plane to disappear. Lena reappeared sometime later, but with a condition called chronal disassociation. She uses the chronal accelerator to stay anchored to the present time, but she's still able to manipulate her own time.

This gives her:

-- The ability to go forward in time, usually in short, three-second spurts. She can appear on the other side of a room in a split second, for instance. She uses this in combat as well.

-- The ability to go backward in time, but only a few seconds. She can rewind her own time, and reappear wherever she was and at whatever state she had been at the time. For instance, if she's shot and rewinds, she'll no longer have that injury.

limitations:

-- The accelerator has a cooldown period. During this time, she cannot time travel. So she can't jump backward and forward in time indefinitely-- she has to wait for her accelerator to recharge. Her guns are also tied to her accelerator. If it goes down, she can't reload until it's back to normal.

-- She must have a line of sight. Lena cannot go through solid objects.

-- Limited travel. She can only go forward and backward a few seconds in time.

-- Cannot affect others. Lena has control over her own time, not anyone else's.

-- Reliance on the accelerator. If it's broken, she runs the risk of turning into a living ghost, incorporeal and unable to stay in one time.

combat experience & training
Overwatch was a peacekeeping force, which means that agents like Lean were trained in combat. She would know things like:

-- hand-to-hand combat
-- marksmanship (she uses two pistols, though she knows how to use other weapons such as Widowmaker's gun)
-- first aid
-- strategy, especially how to use the environment to her advantage
-- reading body language

piloting skill
Lena was recruited to Overwatch because she was an amazing pilot. Although her career as a pilot ended with the Slipstream accident, she's still an enthusiast when it comes to planes. She can pilot in a pinch, though not necessarily just any type of aircraft.

MISC.
SUITABILITY:
Lena's biggest motivation is to do what's right, which includes protecting people from oppressive forces and safeguarding their futures. So she'd have no problem with the entire idea of COST, even if she won't necessarily be convinced of it right away. Having allies, like Angela and Jack, vouch for COST will ease some of her concern. But she'll be willing to disobey orders if they veer too far from her own moral compass. She actually has no problem confronting authority and calling them out on it either, which might cause tension in some situations but could also force people to find new solutions. She'll also have a hard time killing anyone, which is going to hinder her on some missions. But Lena does have experience in paramilitary organization and is used to chain of command. She's also used to being deployed on missions, usually as a fighter sent to protect an object or a person rather than anything else.

ITEM:
She'll have her chronal accelerator with her, which she'll often wear even if everyone assures her that the BCE can take the place of her accelerator. She's somewhat wary of becoming a time ghost again, you see.

CHARACTER @ID SUGGESTIONS:
Oh my god why would you give me this power. I'm a fan of @gottagofast but please give me a good pun. Both Tracer and I love puns.

HOW DID YOUR CHARACTER JOIN COST?
She would've joined willingly, but I'm going with the amnesia option because she was in the midst of untangling the mystery of the terrorist organization Talon and helping Winston rebuild Overwatch. So her schedule was a little full and I don't think I could ICly justify her leaving it behind without giving her a little amnesia.
